We are Soldiers & Sirens
Soldiers & Sirens is a small but hard-working not-for-profit founded by two ex-WA Police Officers to address the mental health challenges often experienced by those working in uniform.
Our Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, Prison Officers and Veterans have witnessed many traumatic events in their daily work, which can take a significant toll on their health, relationships, families, careers and social lives.
For some, it can result in diagnoses such as depression and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Here at Soldiers & Sirens, we provide the psychological knowledge, lived experience and compassion to create a safe and uplifting community to ensure we are stronger together.
We provide referral services to trauma-based therapy pathways and peer support from those who have served.
We have lived experience in uniform!
At Soldiers & Sirens, you are with family.
Our mission is to provide current and ex-serving Police, First Responders, Prison Officers and Veterans (as well as their families) with a safe, connected community in which to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
We understand that the remarkable few who choose to don a uniform to work in confronting and traumatic conditions often find it difficult to confide in those who have not lived and breathed those same complex environments.
It’s for this reason that the volunteers at Soldiers & Sirens and the Board of Directors have either lived experience in uniform or very close family ties.
We recognise the daily pressures and challenges that come from working in uniform – as well as the often confronting situations that can be frequently encountered.
And you have our promise that no matter what, we always act with absolute discretion and confidentiality.
We believe in thriving, not just surviving!
At Soldiers & Sirens, you are safe to heal.
We believe that PTSD and severe psychological distress should not be career-threatening for First Responders or Veterans – and they should never be life-ending!
Early intervention and obtaining the right treatment can lead to recovery and a return to quality of life.
We were borne from a vision to create a place where past and current First Responders and Veterans could find comfort from someone who knows what it is like, who has seen what they have seen, and who knows that people who join these careers are already resilient.
Co-founder Danielle Baldock - a former WA Police Officer and now Registered Psychologist and Army Psychologist – works from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective.
After leaving the police, she has spent more than 10 years mastering how to treat trauma best and is hugely respected by the community she serves.
