WHO ARE WE?
  • Chevron Soldiers & Sirens is a not for profit charity established in 2018 to support the well-being needs of our multi-uniform community.
  • Chevron We know that exposure to trauma has a cumulative effect and that the suicide rate amongst uniforms, especially veterans, is much higher than within the general population.
  • Chevron High quality psychology services are available to uniforms within their organisations both through their internal psychology departments and contracted Employee Assistance Programs. However, worldwide there is a perception among uniforms that accessing these services will be detrimental to their careers. They are therefore under-utilised.
  • Chevron Soldiers & Sirens is completely independent and confidential but works collaboratively with organisations to support our multi-uniform community.
  • Chevron Wherever possible, our staff, volunteers and board members are all current or ex-serving themselves. Soldiers & Sirens is about Support with Understanding.
WE BELIEVE IN THRIVING
  • Chevron Our holistic model of care includes bulk-billed psychology, peer support, family support, and social activities and events.
  • Chevron We are proudly supported by RSL-WA who have provided us with office space inside their headquarters and at the Veterans Support Centre Joondalup at Heathridge.
  • Chevron Our peer support groups meet at coffee shops and RSL sub-branches across Perth. We have plans to expand all our services as funding and staff become available.
  • Chevron We were grateful to receive a federal government grant from the Department of Social Services in 2019, but demand quickly overwhelmed our capability. We urgently need more qualified mental health professionals and our own dedicated office space to continue providing services to this special population. We would appreciate your support.
  • Chevron For more information please see our Facebook page, website www.soldiersandsirens.com.au, email us at info@soldiersandsirens.com.au or call us on 0421 546 822.

CHANGING THE LANDSCAPE OF UNIFORMED SERVICE MENTAL HEALTH THROUGH COLLABORATION, COMMUNITY AND CULTURE.

MENTAL HEATH DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE BY UNIFORM

We are a mental health charity that provides support across police, fire, ambulance and military personnel. We facilitate a community of support, which includes professional services and peer support, and recognises the importance of families.

EMPATHY THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Our Management Team and many of our Board have served in uniform. We under-stand the challenges. Our experience guides our solutions, which are also backed by mental health professionals and evidence based practice.

INDEPENDENT AND CONFIDENTIAL

First responders and military personnel often find it valuable to receive assistance outside of their workplace. Our team have worked in the same complex environments. This facilitates a shared and common understanding of challenges. Our professional services are delivered with discretion and confidentiality.

WE AIM TO PROVIDE CURRENT AND EX-SERVING MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDERS, AND THEIR FAMILIES, A SAFE AND CONNECTED COMMUNITY IN WHICH TO IMPROVE AND MAINTAIN THEIR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING. DELIVERED THROUGH OUR PILLARS OF SERVICE.

WE BELIEVE IN THRIVING

PTSD and severe psychological distress are not career threatening. They should not be life ending either. We believe that early intervention and obtaining the right treatment leads to recovery and a return to quality of life.

SUPPORT WITH UNDERSTANDING.

OUR CORE TEAM HAS SERVED IN THE SAME CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENTS.

WE ‘GET IT’.
